How to deal with puberty

How to deal with puberty

Adolescence is a difficult and confusing time for young people. Many boys and girls don't know how to deal with it. There are many changes that occur in your body, but fear not. These are normal and happen to everyone. You can predict the changes that will occur, so you can react well to this time.

Dealing with things that affect boys and girls

over come body odor When you reach puberty, you sweat (especially underarms) and develop body odor. This is perfectly normal, but it means you need to be more careful about your personal hygiene. Don't forget to shower every day and wear clean clothes. Use deodorant every morning to keep your body smelling fresh and clean.

Some deodorants contain antiperspirants that prevent sweating. Normal deodorants that do not contain this substance prevent body odor, but not sweating. Hair also starts to get sticky, so wash it more often than usual, there are a few things to know:

1. Treat acne.

Hormones also change during puberty, so the skin begins to change. This can cause acne. Your skin may also become dry or oily. To overcome this, wash your face with facial soap twice a day. Use anti-acne cream to treat acne and moisturize skin to treat dry skin.

  • Acne medication contains benzoyl peroxide, sulphur, resorcinol or salicylic acid as highly effective active ingredients. Everyone's skin is different, so try a few until you find the one that suits you best.
  • Be aware that acne medications can dry out your skin. Therefore, skin moisturizers should also be used.
  • Be sure to use an oil-free moisturizer on your face. Oily moisturizers actually cause more acne. Skin moisturizers also include sunscreens that help protect skin from the sun.
  • Do not pick or pinch acne as this will only make the problem worse.
  • Don't touch your face too much or touch your hair. Later, oil migrates from your hands and hair to your face, causing acne.
  • If you have a serious acne problem that cannot be cured with over-the-counter acne medication, consult a dermatologist (skin doctor).

2. Predict your body growth.

Most people experience dramatic growth during adolescence. He gains a few inches and gains weight during this time as his body changes shape. Don't worry if you feel a little uncomfortable during this period. This phase will end. Some people gain weight before they get taller, which is perfectly normal.

  • Wearing the right size clothes gives you a little more confidence. If your old clothes feel tight, ask your parents to buy new clothes (even a little). Keep in mind that your body may continue to grow and change for some time
  • If a foot looks big during puberty, it can be uncomfortable because the foot usually grows before the rest of the body. You must know that this annoying feeling does not last long as the body grows with the feet.

3. Respond to mood swings.

Puberty is caused by the arrival of the hormones estrogen and testosterone. This hormone affects not only body shape, but also mood. As a result, you may feel more angry and emotional than before. There's not much you can do, but remember to be aware of these emotional changes. That way you won't be disregarded by others.

  • During this time you may feel uncomfortable about your body. Note that it is normal to make changes.
  • Get plenty of rest as you may feel tired for no reason. Talk to your doctor if you feel very tired.
  • Share your feelings with someone you trust or an adult. During this time you may need some support from them. So don't hesitate to ask for help.
  • One way to build confidence during this difficult time is to do what you enjoy. For example, if you really enjoy singing, drawing, and playing basketball, these activities will boost your confidence.
  • If these emotions interfere with your daily life or are extremely distressing, consult an expert. Professional counselors can help you learn how to manage these emotions in a healthy way.
  • Exercise helps deal with the anxiety associated with all of the changes that occur during adolescence. When you exercise, chemicals are released in your brain that improve your mood. So find the physical activity that you enjoy. For example team sports like swimming, dancing and football

4. Don't compare yourself to others.

Puberty happens to everyone, but not always at the same time. If you hit puberty earlier than everyone else or feel like you're lagging behind other friends, don't worry.

  • Puberty usually begins in girls between the ages of 8 and 13
  • Puberty usually begins between the ages of 9 and 15 for boys

 5. Predict the emergence of sexual desire.

At some point during puberty, you may feel a sexual urge. But just because you want it doesn't mean you're ready to have sex. Talk to a trusted adult to find out when someone is ready for sex and safe sex habits.

  • If you choose to have sex, understand the importance of protecting yourself from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Even if you wear a condom for protection, this method is not 100% effective.
  • Oral sex can also transmit sexually transmitted diseases. When having oral sex, use a rubber dam, a sheath, or a condom cut into squares in the vulva (the outer part of the vagina) or the anus. Use condoms when having oral sex with your penis. Condoms are available in pharmacies and supermarkets. On the other hand, midwives and dental clinics can look for luggage ladies.
  • Never give in to forced sex if you don't want to. Only you make and carry the decision to have sex.
